10 Principles for teaching Yoga to Trauma Survivors
Sal Flynn describes ten essential principles for working with trauma survivors. The principles can be integrated into your work as a Yoga therapist or Yoga teacher, regardless of the style or tradition that you teach. These principles are crucial to the delivery of any therapeutic Yoga program.
These ten principles are influenced by the latest understandings on trauma, neuroscience, and mindfulness. The are drawn from widely respected Western sources such as Babette Rothschild, Norman Doidge, Peter Levine and Rick Hanson. And most importantly, the great Yoga teachers from the Krishnamacharya lineage, as well as, Yogacharya Dr. Ananda Bhavanani and Donna Farhi.
In this workshop, Sal is joined by three experienced, Yoga therapists/teachers. They share their insights into the inquiries and practices that Sal offers and they discuss their experiences as well as the application of the principles to real life situations.
The interactions between Sal and the group illuminate the concepts Sal presents and will assist you with the integration of the material presented.

“This was a different workshop format for me to attend, however, even though I was watching a recording, I really resonated with the experiential presentation, and felt part of the class. Sal Flynn is an amazing and knowledgeable presenter. The perspectives of the attending ‘students’ were really interesting and added an insightful aspect to the workshop.”
