This Yoga and Menopause training will give you the confidence to help women transition through peri-menopause and menopause using the tools of Yoga.
Menopause is a broad term that describes the years of transition from hormonal cycling to its cessation. Yoga offers many interventions to assist women to manage these often life altering symptoms.
This workshop will focus on the years during the transition until menopause.
In this Yoga and Menopause Training You Will Learn:
Physiology and Pathophysiology of Menopause:
- Review of the female reproductive hormonal cycle
- Overview of the systematic effect of the reproductive hormones
- Gain knowledge of how the hormonal changes of menopause effect the whole body
Social Context of Menopause:
- Explore some of the common myths of menopause
- Develop an understanding of how personal and social attitudes affect many symptoms of the menopause transition
Understanding Menopausal Symptoms:
- Overview of the many symptoms of menopause
- Discussion of the most common menopausal symptoms and the associated pathophysiology
Yoga and Menopause:
- Learn about relevant Yoga interventions
- Learn the benefits of Yoga practices throughout the transition to menopause
Note: Medications and Hormonal Replace Therapy (HRT) will not be covered in this workshop. (A research paper on HRT will be listed in the reference list)
Around 80% of women experience symptoms at menopause, most commonly hot flushes and/or night sweats and vaginal dryness. Around 25% of women have severe and/or prolonged symptoms that may require medical intervention.*
