Stacey Nelson

Yoga Therapist

For over 12 years, Stacey has shared yoga with kids and teens in schools, yoga studios, a domestic violence refuge, a children’s mental health ward and a children’s hospital ward. She is a senior Yoga teacher, children’s Yoga teacher, Yoga therapist and children’s Yoga teacher trainer.

Stacey’s intention is to use Yoga as a vehicle to teach children the life skills that they need to be calm, courageous and compassionate.

In 2011, she completed studies in Yoga Therapy, which forever changed her as a Yoga teacher. It also led Stacey into her most humbling and challenging work to date – in the role of Yoga Therapist at the Child & Adolescent ward at Sunshine Coast University Hospital.

Blending a creative, storytelling approach to physical movement, breathing, affirmations and restorative yoga, she has found ways to ensure children are captivated and engaged so they learn the necessary coping skills for their everyday life.

Her work with children began when she was studying to be a primary school teacher. She switched degrees and graduated with a Bachelor of Communication which led me to work in a TV studio on a children’s show. Drawing from that experience, she co-produced a video series, “Light Up Little Lights Kids Yoga” which is used by children all over Australia and screens globally on Food Matters TV.

Stacey is passionate about helping people to heal through yogic practices. She has articles featured in Australian Yoga Life Magazine, Kids on the Coast Magazine and Nurture Parenting Magazine.
